How To Join the Traditional Health Practitioners’ Association (THPASA) and the Requirements for Practitioner Members

Membership is voluntary, and participation in the association’s sub-committees is also voluntary,

All practicing THP’s are eligible for membership

Requirements for Membership

  • A Practice Certificate (if available) from the Interim Traditional Health Practitioners’ Council of South Africa (ITHPCSA),
  • A South African Identity Book or Card,
  • A Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent, OR Adult Education and Training (AET) Level 1,
  • A Certificate or Letter from Accredited Training Institution or Traditional Tutor, OR
  • An Affidavit or Testimonial from the family or community confirming a Practitioner’s standing and experience as a healer in a particular traditional medicine category.

Membership Fees

There is an initial payment of R 1, 000. 00 which is payable by all first-time joining practitioners,

And R500,00 renewal fee payable annually by all practitioners wishing to renew their membership at the end of their membership period.
